Please read these terms before using RetireFlexi. By using the calculator, saving a plan, or otherwise accessing this site, you agree to these terms.
1. What RetireFlexi is
RetireFlexi is a free, browser-based retirement planning tool provided for personal use. It is a personal project operated by an individual, not a registered business, regulated financial service, or professional advisory firm. The tool is provided as-is, at no charge, with no guarantee of availability or continuity.
2. Not financial advice
RetireFlexi is not a registered investment adviser, financial planner, broker, or tax adviser under US federal or state law, or the laws of any other jurisdiction. Before making any retirement decisions, talk to a qualified financial adviser who is licensed where you live and who understands your full situation.
3. Accuracy of projections
All projections depend on the accuracy of the information you provide and on assumptions that may differ materially from your actual experience. In particular:
- Monte Carlo simulations model a range of possible market outcomes based on historical return volatility. They are probabilistic illustrations, not predictions of future investment performance.
- State pension forecasts are based on publicly available benefit rules. These rules change. Benefit amounts, eligibility ages, and entitlement conditions in any country may differ from those used by the calculator.
- Tax treatment is simplified and illustrative. It does not account for your specific tax situation, residency, or applicable local rules.
- Exchange rates are indicative. Currency values fluctuate. Any figures shown in a currency other than your base currency are estimates only.
You should treat all output from RetireFlexi as a starting point for planning discussions, not as a definitive answer.
4. Data handling
RetireFlexi is designed to protect your financial privacy:
- Your financial data never leaves your device. Account balances, pension values, income figures, and retirement projections are never transmitted to or stored on any RetireFlexi server. This data exists only in your browser on your own device.
- Saving your plan. When you choose to save your plan by email, your email address is transmitted to a RetireFlexi server solely for the purpose of sending you the plan file as an attachment. RetireFlexi retains a copy of your email for service purposes.
- Voting on features. If you submit a feature vote, your email address is collected and retained for the purpose of notifying you when that feature ships.
- Local storage. Your browser's local storage is used to save certain preferences and, if you have clicked a print link sent to you by email, to unlock the print function on your device. No financial data is stored in local storage.
- Exchange rates. Currency rates are fetched from a server-side proxy on behalf of your browser session. No personal data is associated with this request.
RetireFlexi will not sell or give your email address to third parties. We have no current plans to use your email for marketing of any kind. Should that ever change — for example, to help cover the cost of keeping this tool free — we may occasionally send you information about products or services we believe are genuinely relevant to retirement planning. Any such communications would be sent by us rather than passed to anyone else, and you could opt out at any time.
5. Third-party data
Exchange rates are sourced from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter API. RetireFlexi makes no representation as to the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of this data and accepts no liability for errors in exchange rate information.
State pension rules, benefit amounts, and tax data are sourced from publicly available government publications. These are subject to change and may not reflect the most current rules.
6. Intellectual property
The RetireFlexi calculator, its underlying code, design, and all content published on this site (including blog articles) are the property of RetireFlexi and its owner. You may use the calculator for your own personal retirement planning. You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of this site without express written permission.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RetireFlexi and its owner are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses or damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, this tool or any information it produces. This includes, without limitation, any financial decisions made based on the calculator's output.
The tool is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated at any time without prior notice. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the current version took effect. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of whatever the current terms say. Worth checking back occasionally if you use the site regularly.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state of residence of RetireFlexi's owner, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the applicable US federal or state courts.
