Your FIRE Number Isn't Fixed — It Moves With Where You Live, Free
Model the actual gap between retiring at home and retiring somewhere your money goes further.
Most FIRE calculators assume you retire in the same city you're saving in. Cut your spending in half by moving somewhere cheaper and your target portfolio drops with it — the math is the same math, applied to a different number. This one lets you enter your accounts once and compare a domestic FIRE scenario against a geoarbitrage one, converted to whatever currency you're spending in.

Set Scenario A as your current-country plan and Scenario B with a lower income target reflecting a cheaper destination. See the difference in required portfolio size immediately.

Coast and Barista FIRE, without new labels
Fund part of your target income with part-time or passive work, or stop contributing early and let compounding do the rest. Both are just different inputs on the same model.

5,000-scenario stress test
Monte Carlo simulation shows the real probability an early retirement holds up over a longer time horizon — not a single best-guess line on a chart.

Geoarbitrage Only Works If the Gap Survives Contact With Reality
Cost of living drops, sure. But healthcare quality and cost, visa renewal fees, currency risk on a decades-long retirement, and the actual price of flights home all cut into that gap — sometimes by a little, sometimes by enough to change the decision entirely.
Run the real numbers before you commit to the idea. The 2021 vs 2026 cost-of-living comparison tracks Numbeo index data across a dozen-plus popular destinations, including several where the gap moved by 20% or more in just five years.

No credit card at signup, because there's no signup. No 14-day trial that quietly becomes a subscription. No results locked behind a paywall after you've already entered your numbers. RetireFlexi is free because it started as a personal project — the founder needed exactly this and built it for himself first.
No Account, No Data on a Server
Everything you enter — account balances, pension estimates, income targets — stays in your browser on your device. There's no RetireFlexi database of retirement plans, so there's nothing to breach. If you save a plan, it's emailed to your own inbox as an attachment; RetireFlexi never reads or stores what's in it.
Common questions before you start
Does moving abroad actually lower your FIRE number?
Usually, but not automatically. Your FIRE number is your annual spending divided by your safe withdrawal rate — move somewhere your spending drops by a third, and the number driving your target portfolio drops by a third too. But healthcare, visa costs, and currency risk can eat into that gap, which is why modeling the actual numbers matters more than the general geoarbitrage idea.
Does this calculator have Coast FIRE or Barista FIRE modes?
Not as labeled toggles, but the mechanics are all there: set a lower income target funded partly by part-time or passive income (Barista FIRE), or stop contributing and let compounding alone carry a portfolio to your number by traditional retirement age (Coast FIRE). Both are just different combinations of the same income-target and contribution fields.
Does it use real cost-of-living data for different countries?
The calculator itself uses your own entered income target and account data, converted at live exchange rates. For real comparative cost figures by country and region, see the cost-of-living guide, which is Numbeo-sourced and covers over a dozen popular FIRE-abroad destinations.
Is my financial information private?
Completely. Everything you enter stays in your browser on your device — nothing is sent to a server.
Is it actually free?
Free, with no paid tier at all and no account required to use it.
